Courtney Hawthorne

Who I am... the question itself is so simplistic, yet the answer is one of the most dynamic and complex responses anyone could give. It is something I continue to discover, and probably will forever be, as I treat life as a self-discovery journey.

Hi my name is Courtney. I have a BA in Psychology, with a Specialized Industrial / Organizational Psychology from Carleton. This degree led me to pursue a post-grad certificate in Digital Marketing at George Brown. I help run my father's business, All About Sewing. I manage marketing, and help with sales and customer service. During the time of COVID we were very fortunate to have our business flourish. This pushed me into experiencing what it is like to run a business and some of the how-tos and not-to dos very rapidly.

When I am not working at the store I am at the gym. Fitness and health have been my outlet, my safe haven to destress and think about nothing. This got me thinking about pursuing a career in fitness and nutrition, because who doesn't want to wake up every day excited to work in a field they're passionate about. So during the pandemic I also got certified as a personal trainer and nutritionist with ISSA.

This brings us to today's current situation. I am currently starting my own business in Fitness and Nutrition, as well as a clothing brand. I hope to motivate and aspire to others to live a healthier life and demonstrate that healthy living isn't boring and could easily be integrated into anyone's lifestyle. There are more and more black women starting to flourish in this industry and I hope to be a part of it and become a part of PPC inspiration.

My clothing brand is a way for me to live my childhood dream and help support a cause that truly means a lot to me. Before I got into the fields I am in now, I wanted to be a criminal lawyer but I never knew what side I'd want to be on because it's so political and I know I'd get emotionally involved. That is why the clothing brand I am starting will be in support of the innocence project. I will support other causes as it develops, but the innocence project is the one right now that I hold close to my heart.

I have big goals and larger dreams... & I hope you do too!
